Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has expressed optimism that this time around, the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and members of the House of Assembly will uphold the agreements reached through the intervention of President Bola Tinubu to resolve the political crisis in the state.

After examining a number of active projects in the nation’s capital, Wike gave a speech in Abuja.

He emphasised how the president’s leadership was essential in reducing tensions between Rivers State’s legislative and executive branches and his function as a unifying force.

As part of the new truce that President Tinubu mediated between the governor and his political benefactor, NyesomWike, Fubara is anticipated to submit a list of commissioner-nominees to the House of Assembly this week for review and approval.

The FCT minister confirmed that on Sunday evening, the President invited him, Fubara, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, and a few state elders to the Presidential Villa.

Nyesom Wike emphasised the power of the President’s counsel, calling him a father figure whose advice all sides should take seriously.

He said: “I believe that by the grace of God, this will be the last time the President will be bothered with this issue and that this will be the last time the Rivers people will need to hear about this kind of discord.”

Nyseom Wike added that “The President is the father of the nation, and when a father speaks, his children must listen and do the needful to ensure peace and progress.

“The House of Assembly will do what they are supposed to do, and I am confident that the governor will also carry out the acts required of him to ensure that this peace is sustainable.”
