2027: PDP, Obidients blast Wike over Jonathan, Obi
FCT minister, Nyesom Wike has asserted that having the labour Party 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi back to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would be heavily detrimental to the party.

According to recent reports, party leaders have been in talks with Obi and former president Goodluck Jonathan over their potential return to the party. These leaders include Senator Abba Moro of Benue South and Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State.

Obi left the PDP days before the party’s 2023 presidential primary, stating that “recent developments in the party do not support constructive contributions”.

Obi became the Labour Party’s (LP) standard-bearer for the 2023 election after joining the party on May 27, 2022.

Wike stated that it would be detrimental to bring Obi back into the PDP fold during a media parley in Abuja on Monday.

According to the minister, the former governor of Anambra once called the PDP “rotten.”

He also questioned why, after others have worked hard to keep the party viable, Obi should be given the presidential ticket.

“Obi was abusing the party, saying it is rotten. So now the party is suddenly good enough for him to come and contest on its platform?” Wike asked.

Wike further emphasized that the PDP should not welcome someone who “publicly discredited the same organisation.”

“That kind of ambition can make people even go to Satan’s house,”

“Anybody suggesting that Obi should return is entitled to their opinion. But if you want to destroy this party, then bring Obi back,” he said.
