Ondo Traditional Ruler Killed As Gunmen Murder Oba Kehinde Falodun In Akure North

The Ondo traditional ruler that was killed in a fresh wave of violence has been identified as Oba Kehinde Falodun, the Alagamo of the Agamo community in the Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The Nigeria Police Force in Ondo State confirmed the incident on Thursday, stating that the Ondo traditional ruler was attacked on Wednesday at about 7:10 pm. The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed that the report was received at about 7:50 pm from a community leader, High Chief Ajewole Clement of New Town, Itaogbolu.

According to the statement, about six armed men stormed the residence of the monarch, forcibly took him from his compound, and fled the scene. The Ondo traditional ruler was later found a few meters away from his compound with gunshot wounds.
Jimoh said, “The victim was later found a few meters away with gunshot wounds. He was confirmed dead at the scene.
“Upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), alongside tactical teams from the command, promptly mobilized officers in collaboration with local security outfits.
“Atuluse Security, local hunters, and Amotekun operatives also assisted to comb adjoining bushes and surrounding areas in a bid to apprehend the perpetrators. Efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.

“Monitoring and surveillance activities have been intensified across the area to ensure the safety of residents and prevent further breakdown of law and order.
“The public is assured that no stone will be left unturned in bringing those responsible for the heinous act to justice.”
Police authorities added that surveillance has been strengthened across Akure North and neighboring communities following the killing incident. Residents have also been urged to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies.

According to the command, members of the public with credible and actionable information are encouraged to report to the nearest police station or contact the appropriate authorities as investigations continue into the case.
