Edo North Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, has recounted the circumstances surrounding his removal as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying he was ousted through a virtual meeting held via Zoom at the Aso Rock Villa.
Speaking during an interview on AIT, Oshiomhole said his removal followed internal party disputes despite what he described as his contributions to the party’s success in the 2015 general elections that brought President Muhammadu Buhari to power.
He claimed that during his tenure, he and members of the National Working Committee (NWC) helped resolve leadership crises in the National Assembly, including issues in both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
According to him, the party’s political operations were effectively managed under his leadership, allowing the president to focus on governance.
“Once the system got stabilized, I was sacked through a Zoom, and when people couldn’t get me removed democratically, they claimed that eight members of my Ward signed a petition that they passed a vote of no confidence on me,” he said.
Oshiomhole added that the matter later went to court, where an interim order was issued and subsequently appealed. He said the Court of Appeal initially quashed the order before later reinstating it.
He further stated that the final decision on his removal came through a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held virtually at the Presidential Villa, describing the process as unusual.
