Suspected Fulani herdsmen have been reported said to have killed three people in fresh attacks in the Mshen hamlet of Nyihemba, located in the Mbaikyor Ward of Kwande Local Government Area, Benue State, on their way back from Jato-Aka Market.
The accused Fulani bandits made away the victims’ money and belongings.
Igbawua Gandepun, the ward’s youth leader and an eyewitness, stated that the attack happened about a kilometer from the army camp at Government Secondary School in Anwase.

He stated that young people from the neighborhood protested by bringing the victims’ bodies to the military camp, claiming that they had failed to protect them.
According to him: “Two victims, a housewife and a petty female trader, Andeh Aondover, as well as a motorcycle rider, Boki Tyodzua, were ambushed and killed by herdsmen. The herders removed all the money on Tyodzua and carted away all items bought by Andeh after killing them.”
He stated that farmers in the area were yet to begin clearing their farmlands because those who attempted to do so were killed by herdsmen, adding that no one had seen their corpses to date.

“If the Federal government is sincere about ensuring food availability, issue of farmer/herder clashes, should not be treated with kid gloves
“Failure to speak in tandem with commensurate punishment to those hiding under the guise of herders has further led to the massacre of farmers and destruction of farmlands”, Bishop Onuoha warned.
