Six suspects have been taken into custody by Federal Capital Police Command officers in connection with the market killing that raised unrest at Gosa Market on Airport Road in Abuja.
The incident, which frightened residents of the area and traders, came after a guy who was suspected of stealing yam tubers died.

Due to the Abuja market killing, a lot of people have stopped going to the market, which is thought to be among the most reasonably priced places in Abuja to buy food.
During a press conference in Abuja, Commissioner of Police Adewale Ajao stated that the police quickly entered the area to calm emotions and return things to normal after the market killing.
He said, “A young man was accused of stealing some tubers of yam at the market. And lo and behold, an individual decided to take the law into his hands. That’s a complete human being. This is what led to the crisis.

“Following the police swiftly moved into the area to douse tensions and restore normalcy. Six suspects are currently in custody over the matter, which the police are treating as a clear case of murder.”
He further stated that the police had a dialogue with traditional elders and community leaders, which helped to defuse the situation.

Ajao stated that in an attempt to combat robbery, 17 individuals were apprehended in five armed robbery incidents, while six more were apprehended in relation to robberies that were thwarted in Apo and Kubwa.
