Due to the strike, which has continued into day 2, travelers on planned local flights are stuck at several airports, including Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

As a result of safety concerns, passengers on Air Peace were notified that the airline has decided not to operate.

Allen Onyema, the CEO of Air Peace, was heard directing the cancellation of flights around the country in a video on Wednesday.

He said, “If NiMET has not called off the strike, cancel every Air Peace flight now with immediate effect. People’s lives and the safety of our equipment and our crew are foremost”.

“I don’t care if other airlines are flying. Suspend every Air Peace flight nationwide.  Look at the thunderstorm everywhere”,

“Look at the kind of weather we are going into and NiMET, which is supposed to provide guidance is on strike, and we are flying. Suspend all flights with immediate effect, until further notice, until that strike is over, safety first,”

I don’t want to hear of any incident or whatsoever. If people want to collect their money, let them. If they want refund, to enable them fly elsewhere , let them collect it. I don’t want to have blood on my hands”, he noted.
