There was a fuss as an unidentified man was found dead under Gwagwalada Bridge.

An unidentified adult male corpse has been found under a bridge in Gwagwalada, along the Abuja-Lokoja highway.

A witness, Samaila Usman, said the corpse with injuries on his head was found around 5: 37 pm on Monday by some residents who went to wash clothes at the river.

The witness said he suspected that the man might have fallen from on top of the bridge into the river on Sunday night.

He said the corpse was later recovered by some fishermen and dumped close to the river bank, adding that some policemen later visited the scene.

Abuja Metro witnessed as passersby stopped over to have a glimpse of the corpse.

Residents alleged that the man got drunk at the popular Wazobia park and was trekking home on top of the bridge when he suddenly fell into the river.

An official of the environmental department of the Gwagwalada Area Council, Adamu Ibrahim, said the corpse had been evacuated and deposited at a morgue in the area.

“The corpse was later evacuated and deposited at the mortuary while efforts were ongoing to trace the relation of the deceased,” he said. Policemen in the area confirmed the incident.
