Two boys, aged 13 and 12, who had abducted by Boko Haram terrorists three years ago in Borno State, have finally regained their freedom after they managed to escape from captivity and returned safely to Maiduguri.
Yakubu Haruna and Ayuba Ishaku, both from Mandaragrau village in the Biu Local Government Area, came to the Ite Divisional Police Headquarters at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Friday, July 12 and told the story of their spectacular escape and experience from Boko haram camp.
Zagazola Makama, a security analyst, posted on X on Monday that the boys alongside their parents were abducted from their village in Borno state.
According to reports, the boys were transported farther into the terrorist-controlled area, while their parents were later freed at the side of the road after being judged too frail to complete the journey.
They were taken to a Boko Haram stronghold in Mangari, Tumbun Mota, which is located in Baga, Kukawa Local Government Area, together with seven other unidentified adult detainees.

Fighters connected to the Islamic State West Africa Province, or ISWAP, are said to have trained, armed, and used the seven adults in combat activities.
Upon their return, the boys disclosed that, despite not being engaged in direct combat, they were trained to service firearms and were employed as domestic staff.
According to the boys, on July 10, after the majority of the Boko Haram terrorists had gone on an operation and the remaining guards were asleep, they discovered an opening after months of covert planning. The youngsters seized the opportunity and ran through the jungle, finally reaching a nearby community before reaching Maiduguri on July 12 at approximately 4:45 p.m.
Following this, the Borno State Police Command, the youngsters have had a comprehensive debriefing and the development has been validated. The government-sponsored Borno State Model, a rehabilitation and reintegration program for insurgency victims, is working to get them back together with their families.
