The Lagos State Police have launched an investigation into the unexplained death of a Canadian national, identified only as Sullivan, who was found dead in his hotel room on Victoria Island.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of October 7, just five days after Sullivan checked into the hotel on October 2, Lagos State.
A hotel staff member, who requested anonymity, revealed that Sullivan was discovered unresponsive on the floor of his room after repeated attempts to contact him went unanswered.
The hotel’s Chief Security Officer reported the incident to the Victoria Island Police Division at approximately 4:30 p.m.
Police detectives quickly responded to the scene, where they carried out a thorough documentation and inspection of the area.
According to a police source, there were no visible signs of violence on Sullivan’s body, suggesting that foul play was not immediately suspected.
His remains were transported to Lagos Island General Hospital, Marina, where a medical officer officially confirmed his death. The body has since been placed in the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
Although preliminary findings point to no indication of homicide, the Lagos State Police Command stated that a full investigation is ongoing to determine the precise cause of death.
