The Federal Capital Territory’s (FCT) Bwari Area Council may be experiencing a difficult time as a result of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company’s (AEDC) decision to cut off its electricity supply.
Along with Kubwa, Dutse, Gwarinpa, Sokale, Ushafa, Bwari, Jiigo, Pambara, Usma Dam, and many other locations, Bwari Area Council is one of the biggest council areas in Abuja.

Principal federal government offices, including as the Nigerian Law School and the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB), are located in the council area.
According to an inside source who spoke about the power situation , the entire council area was in constant darkness due to malfunctioning circuit breakers at the Kubwa transmission station. The source bemoaned the fact that billions of Naira were lost every day as a result of the situation, which has persisted for nearly two weeks.
He claimed that certain bureaucratic aspects of the government were making the situation worse and that “replacing a circuit breaker shouldn’t take an hour in a modern setting.”

An unidentified Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) employee acknowledged that the circuit breaker was the real problem. However, he refuted the claim that TCN was overloaded. He stated that measures were being taken to guarantee the earliest possible restoration of power.
He further revealed that they had asked for money that should have come straight from the CBN for the purchase and replacement of the circuit breaker.

Attempts to contact the AEDC branch in Bwari were unsuccessful as the office’s administration had changed. Efforts to contact the branch’s known Area Manager, Engineer Bolaji were also unsuccessful.
Residents say they have had enough and that tension has continued to rise about the probable demonstration in the area council.
