The Oyo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed reports claiming that Chief Bisi Ilaka was appointed to its Membership Revalidation, Mobilisation and Registration (MRMR) Committee, describing the claim as fraudulent and warning that it may pursue legal action if the issue continues.

Ilaka, a former Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde, was alleged to have falsely presented himself as a member of the committee.
In a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Barrister Bimpe Adelowo, the Oyo ADC described Ilaka as an “impostor” and cautioned him, along with any alleged associates, against meddling in the party’s internal matters.
The statement also noted that the party would not hesitate to pursue legal action against Ilaka and what it described as his ‘associates’ should the false claims continue.
Criticising Ilaka’s political track record, the party highlighted his repeated but unsuccessful electoral pursuits, accusing him of taking an ‘undemocratic path’ in pursuit of what it called ‘inordinate ambition’ instead of learning from previous defeats.
Apologising to members and the general public for any confusion caused, the party accused unnamed ‘political aliens’ of deliberately sowing discord and engaging in uncivil political conduct.

The ADC emphasised that Ilaka has neither been recognised by the Oyo State chapter nor nominated by it for any national assignment.
Under the party’s constitution, any national-level appointment must be endorsed by the State Chapter and transmitted through the State Chairman.
According to the party, the officially appointed Oyo State representatives on the MRMR Committee are Mr Ayo Akinyemi as Chairman and Professor Folake Tafita as Secretary. Both were nominated by the State Chapter and have been inaugurated in Abuja.
The statement added that if any state nomination had been rejected, formal communication would have been sent through the State Chairman, a step the ADC confirmed was never taken regarding Ilaka.
Reaffirming its organisational capacity, the party highlighted that its Executive Committee structures remain valid across all 33 local government areas and 351 wards in Oyo State.
The Oyo ADC therefore urged members and the public to disregard any reports suggesting that Ilaka or his associates hold positions within the MRMR Committee, insisting such claims contradict the party’s constitutionally established procedures.
Members were encouraged to focus on the ongoing online membership registration, which remains open for two weeks via the official portal.
The reiterated its commitment to unity and the recruitment of credible, capable individuals while distancing itself from disruptive external influences.
