The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has reacted to the worsening security situation in Nigeria, which prompted U.S. President Donald Trump to designate the country as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC).
Trump recently made the designation, citing reports of alleged Christian persecution and killings across Nigeria.
He further warned that the United States military would intervene and eliminate the criminal elements if the Nigerian government failed to take appropriate action.
While Trump’s move generated outrage across the country, most Christian religious leaders have been quiet on the matter.
However, speaking on Friday night at the November Holy Ghost Service Pastor Enoch Adeboye said there was no need to blame the current administration, stating that President Bola Tinubu inherited the situation.
“This is not the time for apportioning blame. Our President inherited this problem — it started before him,” he said.
The clergyman, however, urged the Federal Government to immediately eliminate the terrorists and their sponsors ahead of the proposed possible US military action in Nigeria.
According to Pastor Enoch Adeboye if the US eventually invades Nigeria as Trump said, China, Russia, and other world powers would not come to the country’s defence.
“They would only talk,” he warned.
The RCCG Pastor advised President Tinubu to give the newly appointed service chiefs a three-month ultimatum to wipe out criminal elements and their financiers.
