FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has firmly dismissed reports of a division within the Peoples Democratic Party, insisting the party remains united as it prepares for its national convention scheduled on March 29 and 30, 2026.
In advance of the party’s next national convention, Wike made the statement on Wednesday while addressing reporters after touring completed and ongoing infrastructure projects throughout Abuja.

“We have only one PDP, no faction,” the minister said, stressing that internal grievances should not be interpreted as a split within the party.
“I don’t know which camp you are talking about. There is only one PDP. Some individuals may not be happy, yes, but there is no faction,” he said, adding that reconciliation efforts could continue alongside preparations for the convention.
“That there is convention does not mean there won’t be reconciliation. Everything has its own time,” he added.

Wike stated during the inspection tour that the FCT Administration is still dedicated to closely monitoring projects to guarantee timely and high-quality delivery.
He said that the bridge project near the Fire Service headquarters in Abuja is almost finished, and contractors have promised to deliver the work within the next five months.
“From what we have seen, it is a very quality job. I commend the company,” Wike noted.

Wike addressed concerns over funding and the speed of ongoing projects, attributing the administration’s success to strong political will and careful resource management.
He claims that the FCT Administration only grants contracts it can afford to carry out and is primarily dependent on domestically produced cash.
Additionally, the minister attributed the ongoing advancements in infrastructure construction to President Tinubu’s support, stating that the president’s backing has maintained the pace of work throughout the city.
