Isaac Fayose, brother to the former governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, has expressed dissatisfaction with Nigeria’s democratic situation, calling the opposition helpless and stating that Peter Obi can never be Nigeria’s President.
Fayose bemoaned the demise of the nation’s election and political processes in a video posted on X.
“ADC is dead on arrival. Peter Obi can never be president. Nobody can be president again unless they select you.”

He warned that Nigerians now have no real opposition to the Senate’s rejection of electoral changes, the deterioration of the judiciary, and the overall political system.
“Electoral reform is gone. Even the initiatives that Jonathan started have been thrown into the dustbin. No more BVAS,” he said.
Fayose described the situation as a personal and national tragedy.
“This is the saddest day of my life. Our generation were unable to change this. We lost the country.”

In addition, he criticised political leaders for the nation’s problems and voiced dissatisfaction at the wider breakdown of public services, pointing out that industries like healthcare, law enforcement, and customs are failing.
He called on Nigerians to accept the existing state of politics.
The Electoral Act 2022 (Repeal and Reenactment) Amendment Bill 2026 was approved by the Senate on Wednesday after a third reading.

However, the bill’s proposed amendment to Clause 60, Subsection 3—which aimed to mandate the electronic transmission of election results—was not approved by the upper house. Since then, the public has responded to the decision in a variety of ways.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio responded by stating that the Senate did not categorically oppose the electronic transmission of election results.
He clarified that rather than completely eliminating the provision, the chamber just refused to make real-time transmission of results to the result portal mandatory.
