A chieftain of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, has said Nigeria remains a country full of great potential but is currently burdened by avoidable challenges.
In a message shared on his verified X account on Wednesday, Peter Obi encouraged Nigerians not to lose faith in the possibility of building a functional, fair, and productive nation where every citizen is included.
Peter Obi also extended his goodwill to Muslims in Nigeria and around the world on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, urging them to observe the celebration with faith, sacrifice, and hope.
According to Peter Obi, “I warmly felicitate with the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and across the world as they celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, a sacred occasion that reflects enduring values of faith, sacrifice, obedience to God, compassion, and love for humanity. Let us focus our prayers on unity and hope at this year’s Sallah.”
He added that the lessons of the celebration highlight selflessness, tolerance, and commitment to the common good—values he said are crucial at this stage of Nigeria’s development.
Peter Obi noted that although Nigeria is blessed with immense potential, it is currently weighed down by avoidable difficulties. He, however, emphasized that the spirit of Eid-el-Kabir teaches that sacrifice eventually leads to reward, urging citizens to maintain hope in a better and more inclusive nation.

He further called for prayers for security personnel on the frontlines, wisdom for leaders, and economic relief for struggling citizens. He also encouraged unity, peace, and mutual respect across religious and regional lines.
Peter Obi concluded by wishing Nigerians a peaceful and joyful Eid-el-Kabir celebration, praying for happiness in families, harmony in communities, and renewed national hope.
