Nigerian singer and songwriter, Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has responded to criticism trailing the release of his latest music project.
Peter Okoye, who appeared dancing in his new music video, was criticised by some social media users who suggested he should retire, claiming that Afrobeats is now dominated by younger artists.
Reacting to the comments, Mr P defended his talent and experience in the music industry, highlighting his abilities as a singer, dancer, performer, and instrumentalist.
In a post shared on social media, he wrote, “Put some respect on the name Peter Okoye aka Mr P.”
He also claimed that many of those criticising him are disappointed PSQUARE fans who have refused to come to terms with the group’s breakup.
According to him, people should respect their decision to part ways and move on, adding that his solo career has turned out to be one of the best decisions he has made.
Mr P further disclosed that he recently secured a multi-million-dollar, five-year agreement with an international distribution company covering three albums.
“Nobody can stop this movement. The train has left the station. It’s Mr P forever,” he added.
