Plateau 2027: Lalong, Gagdi, Wase, Bagos, Mwadkwon, Lar emerge victorious in tense but successful APC primary elections showdown

Former Plateau State Governor and current Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District, Simon Bako Lalong, alongside members of the House of Representatives, Yusuf Gagdi (Pankshin/Kanam/Kanke) and Idris Wase (Wase Federal Constituency), emerged as some of the key winners in the Plateau State All Progressives Congress (APC) National Assembly primaries concluded on Tuesday.

The results were officially announced by the Chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee in the state, Stella Okotete. The exercise also saw Senator Simon Mwadkwon clinch the ticket for Plateau North Senatorial District, while Bitrus David Barji defeated incumbent Senator Diket Plang to secure the Plateau Central Senatorial ticket.

In the House of Representatives contests, Hon. Dalyop Fom won the ticket for Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency. Former lawmaker Dachung Bagos also staged a return, defeating rivals to secure the Jos South/Jos East ticket, while Ishaya Lalu retained his position for Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency.

Other winners include Beni Lar, who clinched the Langtang North/Langtang South ticket, and Joe Dashe, who emerged victorious for Shendam/Qua’an Pan/Mikang Federal Constituency.

Declaring the results, Okotete described the primaries as peaceful, transparent, and credible, stressing that they were conducted in full compliance with party guidelines and the APC constitution.

She commended aspirants, delegates, party members, and supporters for their discipline and peaceful conduct throughout the process, adding that the APC emerged stronger from the exercise.

Okotete further urged party stakeholders to remain united and focused ahead of the 2027 general elections, noting that internal unity would be crucial for electoral success.

She also appreciated the leadership of the party in Plateau State, including the governor, state executives, and members of the National Working Committee, for their support in ensuring a smooth and credible primary election process.
