In a statement on Wednesday, the National Secretary, Bishop David Bakare, said, “It is with profound sorrow and serious concern that we denounce in the strongest terms the horrific attacks that took place on Sunday around 7:30pm in Anguwan Rukuba, Jos, where at least 27 innocent lives were brutally cut short, and numerous others sustained injuries.”

“This senseless act of violence is not only a tragedy for the affected families and the people of Plateau State, but also a painful reminder of the fragile peace that must be protected at all costs.”

He noted that the renewed bloodshed on the Plateau is unacceptable and must be brought to an immediate halt.

Bakare stated, “Plateau state has endured dark and painful chapters in the past, and it must not be allowed to slide back into those days of fear, division, and unchecked violence.”

He stressed that the sanctity of human life must remain paramount, and no grievance, real or perceived, can justify such barbarity.

The statement by PFN called on security agencies to act swiftly and decisively to fish out the perpetrators of the “heinous crime” and ensure they are brought to justice.

According to Bakare, “The audacity of these attackers to strike within the city is a serious concern that must not be ignored.

“It demands a firm, coordinated, and sustained response to restore confidence in public safety.”

He urged community leaders, stakeholders, and residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with law enforcement, and resist any attempt to inflame tensions or provoke reprisals, saying that now, more than ever, unity and restraint are essential.

He explained that the courage displayed by those who seek to terrorise peaceful communities must be met with equal resolve, pointing out that the menace must be resisted with every legitimate means until peace, security, and justice prevail.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and all those affected by this tragedy.

“We stand in solidarity with them in this moment of grief and reaffirm our collective commitment to ensuring that such acts of violence have no place in our society,” the statement said.
