The State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, has been instructed by Lagos State Commissioner of Police CP Olohundare Jimoh to launch an investigation into several claims of sexual misconduct made against Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries.
The decision was issued in response to public outcry over a number of accusations that have been widely shared on social media in recent days.
As the controversy grew, the preacher reportedly resigned from his pastoral duties on New Year’s Day. Numerous women, including Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, had publicly accused him of various sorts of emotional and sexual misconduct.
Recall that pastor Chris Okafor publicly confessed to his involvements with the actress during a church service last Sunday, bowing on the altar to confess his “mistakes” and ask for forgiveness.
The apology was made a few weeks after the pastor wedded, a new wife, on December 16, 2025, in front of prominent clerics also following several accusations by the actress.
At first, the Lagos State Police Command said that since none of the purported victims had filed a formal complaint, it was unable to prosecute the pastor.
Despite the accusations going viral online, CSP Abimbola Adebisi, the Command’s spokesperson, clarified on Friday that the police were not aware of any formal petition.

However, Adebisi stated on Sunday that CP Jimoh had directed the SCID to contact the claimed victims and invite the pastor for interrogation in response to fresh enquiries and direct communication with the Commissioner of Police on Saturday night.
She claimed that even in the absence of a formal petition, the commissioner ordered that the clergyman be investigated and that prospective witnesses and complainants be called to submit statements to support the investigation.
Also recall that Doris Ogala posted a number of heartfelt videos on Instagram on December 14, which is when the accusations against Chris Okafor initially came to light.
She claimed in the tweets that she had a sexual connection with pastor Chris Okafor that began in 2017 and lasted for almost nine years, during which time he made numerous promises to marry her.
Despite those promises, according to Ogala, the cleric later wed a different woman.
She further claimed that the pastor had caused her emotional distress and financial difficulty, with evidences including shared graphic photos and videos of her without permission, and contributed to the breakdown of her prior marriage.

As the situation grew, more women came forward to accuse the cleric of infidelity, manipulation, and sexual assault.
Among them was Bessem Okafor, Chris Okafor’s ex-wife, who charged him with physical abuse, infidelity, and deceit.
