Ezra Olubi exposed
The Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership has urged the police to open an investigation into the gross sexual misconduct allegations levelled against Paystack co-founder, Ezra Olubi, following his suspension by the company over sexual misconduct allegations.

Following the announcement of Olubi’s suspension due to alleged sexual misconduct involving a subordinate by the Nigerian payments company Stripe, there was widespread outcry on Friday.

According to information obtained by NaijaEyes, the scandal started on Wednesday when a woman who had previously dated the Paystack co-founder took to social media to vent her personal complaints about him.

The post brought attention to a number of old tweets from 2009 and 2013 that were purportedly connected to the PayStack Co-founder and that people said contained sexually explicit comments about youngsters and coworkers.

CACOL Executive Director Debo Adeniran told reporters that the accusations pose major moral and criminal concerns based on the outcry they have caused on social media.

Adeniran insisted that anyone in an executive position must be “above board in all his or her conduct,” characterising the situation as “moral corruption.”

Consensual interactions between adults may not be illegal, he added, but when minors are involved, the story completely shifts.

“If it is with minors, anybody under 18, then it is a criminal offence. No matter how it happens, once it involves an underage girl, the police should step in and ensure justice is done,” he said.

“A minor is not capable of seducing an adult who is conscious of his integrity. So basically, that is a criminal offence that the police should step in and deal with,” he added.

Adeniran faulted any delay by the company in notifying authorities if underage victims were involved.

He stressed that a thorough police probe is necessary, both to establish the facts and to ensure accountability where any criminal breaches are confirmed.
