Activist, political aspirant and ally of Peter Obi, Aisha Yesufu, has formally withdrawn from the FCT senatorial race under the Nigeria Democratic Congress(NDC) platform.
Recall that on May 6, Yesufu declared interest in the 2027 FCT senatorial race after joining the NDC from the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
She earlier said her decision came from the leadership experience she gained in the ADC.
However, rumours in recent days suggest that Amanda Pam, another candidate who joined the party before Yesufu, now holds the FCT Senate ticket.
Meanwhile, Yesufu effectively ended her campaign for the FCT Senate seat after stating in a Friday statement that the party would not hold primaries.
She said, “Our party has decided not to conduct primaries for the Senatorial seat in FCT Abuja. It however intends to conduct primaries for House of Representatives! Go ahead and make your choice known!”
Additionally, Yesufu urged her supporters to remain calm and to focus on the broader political objective ahead of the 2027 general election.

“I urge each and everyone of you to remain calm and focus on the bigger picture which is the presidential election. Nigeria will be OK!” she said.
“In the coming week I will be returning back to all the 6 Area Councils God willing to appreciate them for the warm welcome and continue to forge ahead for a #BetterFCT.”
BACKSTORY…
This comes just four days following her remarks that the idea that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike would have a major influence on her political ambition.
Aisha Yesufu further added her main goal is to win the people’s mandate, not to seek approval from political appointees.
