The National Leader of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has stated that the party is open to engaging in dialogue with other political parties, individuals, or coalitions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during the NNPP National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, Kwankwaso emphasized that while the party remains willing to explore collaborations aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians, it is not rushing into any agreements.
kwankwaso clarified that no discussions are currently underway, and stressed that any future decisions would involve wide consultations with party leaders and members to ensure a collective and inclusive approach.
It was reported that during the NEC meeting on Thursday, the party also dissolved its executives in some states and appointed new leaders pending its convention to elect substantive leaders in those states.
Kwankwaso, “There was fake news recently, but at this meeting, we are going to take critical decisions, and so many people were excited to come and hear what that information is.
“Now actually, it wasn’t intended to say anything here, because in that direction, there is very little or nothing to say. I think that was not the intention of the meeting. We are ready to do whatever it takes, because we are not in a hurry.
“Members, the leadership and all of us are not in a hurry. We believe that we have something to offer at the end of the day, at the highest leadership level in this country.
“But we want to do it the way it should be done. We are ready to talk to anybody. As far as we are concerned, we are doing our business. Now we are ready to go. In fact, we are going. We are moving. But I can say here comfortably that we are politicians. We are ready to talk to anybody.
“If you want us to work together, okay, fine, let’s talk. We are ready to talk to anybody who wants us to work together for 2027 but the fact remains, this party is not my party, not the chairman’s party. It is not our party, only those of us here. It is for Nigerians.
“Everybody’s free to come in. And on the other hand, even though you don’t want anybody to leave, if somebody has to leave, what else can we do?
“If there is anything, if there is any negotiation, it will be collective, and not only for the negotiators, but for the entire members of this family of NNPP,” Kwankwaso stated.
