Defection: 3 more PDP governors ready to dump party soon- Fayose reveals
Former governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, has revealed that three more PDP governors who were elected on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform are getting ready to exit the opposition party.

In response to Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri’s resignation from the PDP, Fayose made this disclosure on Wednesday during an interview on Channels Television’s “Politics Today.”

He cautioned that the opposition party would soon have only five governors due to internal problems.

Fayose described the party’s presidential and governorship tickets as “ordinary tissue paper”  now lacking political value.

“Let me tell you, there are three more PDP governors that will leave soon,” Fayose said.

“There will be five remaining. The five remaining, one of them will struggle to catch the ticket, and they all know that the ticket is an ordinary tissue paper.”

He firmly accused some PDP governors of destroying the party by seeking to control its internal structure. He said, “They are largely killing the party because they want to control it. This is what happened in 2023,” he added.

Fayose rejected allegations that opposition governors are being pressured by President Bola Tinubu to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He claims that the defected PDP governors are driven more by their own aspirations than by outside pressure.

“President Tinubu should not be blamed for PDP’s problems,” he said.

“The PDP is sick and remains perpetually sick without a cure in view.”

He claimed that internal sabotage was the root of the party’s problems and that the people who brought it down are widely known.

He further denied rumours that he intends to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The former governor of Ekiti claimed that even though he publicly backed President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential contest, this did not imply that he had joined the APC.
