Authorities Explain Sanusi and Ado Bayero’s Mosque Plans.
The Kano State Police Command has addressed concerns regarding the alleged plans of Muhammadu Sanusi II and Aminu Ado Bayero to lead Friday prayers at the same mosque. Confusion arose due to conflicting statements about where each emir would be leading the prayers.
According to a statement by the Danburan of Kano, reinstated Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II is set to lead the Friday prayers at the Emir’s Palace Mosque. Residents are invited to attend and listen to his sermon.
Conversely, an aide of deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero issued another statement inviting residents to join him at the same mosque for Jumu’at prayers, noting that the procession to the mosque would begin at 12:30 PM.
In response, the Kano State Police Command clarified the situation through a statement by spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa. The Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, confirmed that Emir Bayero would observe his prayers at the Nasarawa Palace Mosque, where he resides. The police have assured that all necessary security measures are in place for Emir Bayero at the Nasarawa Palace.
Additionally, the CP assured that adequate security would be provided at the Main Palace Mosque, where Emir Sanusi II is expected to lead the Jummah Prayers. The police urged the public to disregard any false reports and continue their daily activities without fear of harassment or intimidation.
