President Bola Tinubu has stated that he will clear up his schedule to enable him pay a condolence visit to the people of Benue State on Wednesday.

This follows attacks in Yelewata community, Guma Local Government Area of the state, where about 250 people were killed by suspected herdsmen, houses and other valuables destroyed.

According to reports, Tinubu has come under heavy criticism following the administration’s silence despite the bloodshed going on in Benue state.

In what appears to be a series of coordinated attacks on the Benue people, many individuals have lost their lives, including internally displaced persons originally seeking refuge in the state.

Following the most recent attacks which has left not less than 200 dead, including a community head dead and several others abducted, Pope Leo XIV expressed sympathies and called for peace in Benue.

This was followed by a protest by angry youths of the state in an attempt to demand some form of accountability and action from both the state and federal government over the massacre going on in the state.

In what now appears to be a response to the national outrage, Tinubu said, “I will adjust my programme and go see Benue people on Wednesday,” on Monday when he inaugurated the Greater Abuja Water Supply Network in the nation’s capital.
