The late Faisal Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi was the son of Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, the former governor of the state of Kaduna.

Our correspondent received confirmation of his death from a family member who wished to remain anonymous, stating that the dead had been in an accident.
According to several eye-witness reports, the collision occurred on Saturday night along the Kaduna-Zaria expressway.
“This evening, an accident happened on the Kaduna-Zaria highway.” After being brought to an unnamed hospital, he was pronounced dead. His father was in the hospital, and his body was brought home so that funeral preparations could be made.
As of the time this article was filed, Makarfi, a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), could not be reached for comment.

Faisal, a trained civil engineer, completed his secondary education at Adesoye College in Offa, Kwara State after attending Kaduna International School. He completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Greenwich in London, and he also enrolled there to pursue his doctorate.
This is the second unfortunate event that has happened to a prominent Nigerian family this weekend.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Group Chief Executive Officer also lost his 23-year-old daughter Fatima on Friday. Following a brief illness, she passed away in Abuja and was buried according to Islamic customs.
