The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has commended the ruling of a Finnish court that sentenced Simon Ekpa to six years in prison for terrorism-related offences.
The judgment was delivered by the Päijät-Häme District Court in Finland, and General Musa hailed it as a major milestone in the international effort against terrorism.
In a statement released on Monday by the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier-General Tukur Gusau, the CDS emphasized that the ruling reinforces the message that those who incite or fund violence will be brought to justice, no matter where they are in the world.
He commended the Finnish authorities for ensuring justice and acknowledged the role of Nigerian security agencies, intelligence operatives, and diplomats in providing evidence that contributed to the conviction.
Musa pledged continued collaboration with international partners to dismantle terrorist networks and urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and support security agencies in the fight against insurgency and violent separatist movements.
