Ahead of the general election in 2027, the opposition coalition against President Bola Tinubu has refuted reports that it has chosen the African Democratic Congress(ADC), as its political party.
Along with a few opposition leaders and resentful members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, or APC, the coalition is led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Additionally, the coalition denied rumours that it had named Salihu Lukman, a former APC vice chairman for the Northwest, as its secretary.
This was revealed by Lukman, the group’s acting spokesperson, in a statement released in Abuja on Thursday.

Lukman said: “The public should disregard the story, as it is completely false. No such decision has been taken.
“Also false is the report that the coalition has adopted the ADC at its meeting of Tuesday, May 20, 2025.”
Recall that El-Rufai, former Kaduna state governor had disclosed that himself, Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, have endorsed the African Democratic Congress(ADC), as the official platform of the opposition alliance.

However, in more recent development, Lukman has debunked this, although he acknowledged that in actuality, talks between all the alliance leaders are going really well, and quick choices will be made regarding the political platform for the 2027 election.
“Unfortunately, there appear to be some mischief makers promoting and planting stories in the media with the clear aim of sowing seeds of discord among coalition leaders.
