Defection to APC not an escape route for corrupt governors-FG
The federal government issued a warning on Friday that it will continue to pursue corruption investigations against governors and other political office holders even if they defected to the ruling APC.
In a statement provided to reporters by his media assistant, Mr. Kamarudeen Ogundele, Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, stated that the administration of President Bola Tinubu would not back down from the fight against corruption, regardless of whose ox is gored.

The AGF outlined FG’s stance while disputing a statement made by an assistant to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president and PDP contender in the most recent presidential election.
The AGF stated that the assertion made by Atiku’s assistant during an interview he gave on national television caught his notice.
Although Mr. Ibe did not provide the identities of the defectors, he emphasised that “the discerning members of the public know those he could have been referring to,” calling the accusation “contemptuous.”

“However, we wish to state categorically that the allegation is from the pit of hell, and at best, a figment of imagination of Mr Ibe.
“We know as a fact that the EFCC chairman and the Solicitor General of the Federation never met any serving or former governor as alleged by him.
“We appeal to the members of the public to disregard the insinuation as it was a feeble attempt to discredit President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration’s fight against corruption.
