Nwazunku made the official annoucement of leaving the PDP at Ugwuachara during the Echiaba Ward meeting held at the residence of Hon. Amobi Nwofoke, Chairman of the party in the Ward.

Nwazunku was welcomed into the APC along with a number of other prominent PDP members, such as Hon. Emeka Otozi, the party’s 2023 senatorial candidate for Ebonyi North, the Echiaba ward chairman, and several political friends.
Chief Patrick Orogbo, the party chairman in the Ebonyi Local Government Area, welcomed the defectors on behalf of the State Chairman and commended them for their brave and calculated choice.
He emphasised that the party is still dedicated to internal democracy, openness, and inclusivity, regardless of political background or prior allegiance, and he gave them assurances of equal opportunity and inclusion inside the party structure.

During his speech, Amobi praised the Ebonyi State governor for his excellent work during the previous two years in office.
Speaking immediately after his official departure, Chief Nwazunku confessed that, although he had physically remained in the PDP, his spirit had long left from the party due to its declining internal coherence and significance.

He added that his choice to join the All Progressives Congress was inspired by the amazing successes of the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru and the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the national level.
He pledged to mobilize his supporters across the state to ensure the resounding success of the APC, particularly in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
