The convoy of former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Ex AGF Malami (SAN), has been reportedly attacked by men suspected to be political thugs in Birnin Kebbi.
According to reports, Ex AGF Malami had just returned from a visit to offer condolences to the family of the late Chief Imam of Dr. Bello Haliru Jumu’ah Mosque when the event occurred along Old NITEL Road.

According to witnesses, the attackers destroyed multiple vehicles in the convoy with dangerous weapons.
Security operatives were later deployed to the scene, the state headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Malami’s residence to prevent further unrest.
In response, Ex AGF Malami said, “It’s painful some thugs armed with dangerous weapons and stones, attacked and destroyed vehicles in our convoy.” He called the attack regrettable.

Following the incident, Isa Abubakar As-Salafi, the APC’s state public relations officer, denounced the attack and promised that the party will look into its perpetrators. Additionally, he urged political players to keep Kebbi peaceful.
Commissioner of Police Bello M. Sani has also stated that an investigation had commenced following an emergency security briefing at Government House.
He reminded political parties that INEC has not yet removed the ban on political activity and cautioned them against hosting unapproved events or campaigns.
