FCT: Wike dares previous govts – Speak out if the projects we’re commissioning are yours.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday, declared that the projects being commissioned by President Bola Tinubu were executed under his leadership.
Wike challenged previous administrations to speak out if the projects being commissioned were inherited from them.
The minister had earmarked 17 days for the President to commission projects embarked upon and completed by the FCT Administration.
The projects are being commissioned to mark the president’s second year in office.
Speaking during the commissioning of the Interchange Bridge of Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Way) over Outer Northern Expressway (Murtala Mohammed Expressway), Wike attributed the completion of the projects to Tinubu’s leadership.
The minister said the interchange bridge was awarded in 2020 but the FCTA under his leadership decided to complete the project due to Tinubu’s directive that projects that would have impact on the lives and economy of the people must be given priority.
Wike said: “Mr President, let me sincerely thank you, this is the 10th day you have been commissioning various projects executed through your directive by the FCT Administration. Mr President you have personally attended five days and you have sent top representatives, the Senate President, Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
“We will not take for granted the love you have shown to the people of the FCT and FCTA. I’m sure those of us who are frequent users of this area will understand the importance of this interchange.
“Let me say this, leadership whether in government, in party or any form is very important to the survival of government. What makes a government to say it has done well or has not done well is leadership. When you provide the right leadership you will get the result, as the president is providing the right leadership that is why we are seeing these results today.
“I have always said let anybody challenge the FCT Administration that all these roads and projects we are commissioning that any previous administration completed it and we came to take over, like I see in some states where they are fighting among themselves.
“If you know that from 2010 till 2023 there are projects we are commissioning that you finished, please do us a favour by coming out to say ‘we started it and we finished it,’ I know that nobody would say that.”
Stressing that there is no magic behind the ongoing commissioning of projects under his leadership, Wike said he counts himself lucky to have been allowed by the President to contribute his quota to the development of the FCT.
“There is no magic, it’s just about commitment, the President is committed to see that things turn around in this country, that is why we have the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“We are very happy to be associated with the administration of Mr President and so we count ourselves lucky that he has allowed us to contribute our little quota in the development of FCT.”
