According to insiders, this progress is the result of a strategic effort by the Federal Government, led by the APC, to erode opposition bases nationwide in preparation for the upcoming general elections.

The goal, according to sources, is to guarantee that President Tinubu wins in 2027 with little opposition by securing power and eliminating political challenges.

Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory’s (FCT) minister and Fubara’s former political godfather turned enemy, is at the core of this political tempest.

Recall that president Bola Tinubu met suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara in April while in London on a work trip.

The terms allegedly included the reinstatement of the governor Fubara, although with severe restrictions, and the sharing or close supervision of Rivers State’s resources by the power brokers of the ruling party.

Recently, the same Wike who openly mocked and called for Sim’s removal has changed his mind, describing the Governor as “his son” and denying ever having a fight with him.
