Governor Fubara, the suspended governor of Rivers State, has urged the state’s citizens to put aside their political disagreements and work together to establish a more powerful and thriving Rivers.
In a statement delivered to reporters on Thursday to mark the second anniversary of his administration, the governor made this call.
With the theme “Our Journey: Challenging but Progressive and Impactful,” Fubara reflected on the journey since he assumed office on May 29, 2023, describing the past two years as a mix of political turbulence and meaningful progress.

“In the past two years, our political landscape has undergone significant changes. Despite the turbulence, I have remained steadfast and focused… I pledged to protect and promote our collective interests, and that commitment remains unshaken,” the governor declared.
Governor Fubara noted significant accomplishments in important areas such as healthcare, education, infrastructure, youth empowerment, human capital development, and the inclusion of women in governance, while also admitting that political obstacles had occasionally slowed the pace of development.

He further expressed heartfelt gratitude to citizens across the state for their roles and sacrifices.
Governor Fubara reaffirmed his dedication to socioeconomic development, peace, and security as he looked to the future. “We are committed to coming out stronger, more cohesive, and more focused on achieving our goals,” he said.
The governor stressed that forgiveness and reconciliation were essential to bringing things back to normal and making it possible to provide “transformational infrastructure, impactful programs, and life-changing services” throughout the state.
In a stirring farewell speech, Governor Fubara called on all Rivers residents to put aside their political differences and embrace solidarity.
The governor closed his talk with renewed optimism and a vow to continue working hand in hand with the people to establish a state that stands as a model for the rest of Nigeria.
