Sixty-six prominent politicians from various political parties, along with their supporters, were officially welcomed into the Labour Party (LP) on Friday by Governor Otti in Ukwa West LGA.
Historically, Ukwa West has been a stronghold for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), with the party securing victories in every election from 1999 to 2023.
However, on Friday, key figures such as Adinigwe Ugochukwu Nwoke, former Deputy Speaker; Ngozi Ulunwa, former Secretary to the Abia State Government; Ralph Egbu; Uche Nwaele; Ugoeze Ogbonna; Lucky Ejiogu, and several other grassroots politicians from the PDP, APGA, and other parties, officially joined the LP.
Receiving the new entrants at Obehie Central School, Ukwa West LGA, Governor Otti thanked the new members for coming into LP and encouraged others who are still doubting, to join him now, before it is late.
“I truly, truly welcome our new members and their followers. If there are a few more people who are still doubting, please let them know that they need to board the train before it leaves the station,” Governor Otti stated.

He said that the major interest of his administration was to restore the dignity of the Abia person and announced that a mini-stadium would be built in Ukwa West and directed the Mayor of the Council to survey and fence the proposed land.
He also admonished the Obehie community to allow Inner Galaxy company to locate the proposed skills acquisition centre at its choice in Obehie, stressing that there was no need for the disagreements over the location of the project.
Welcoming the new entrants, the acting Chairman of LP in Abia State, Nwaeze Oti declared that the performance of Governor Otti was attracting more members for the parry.
