Gunmen abduct Ondo APC chairman, demand N100m ransom

    The All Progressives Congress(APC), chairman has been kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers in Ward 5, Ifon, Ose Local Government Area, Ondo State.

    The APC chieftain, Nelson Adepoyigi, was abducted on Monday evening at his residence located along Ifon-Owo Road within the local government area.

    According to community sources, the kidnappers had contacted the victim’s family and demanded a N100 million ransom before releasing him.

    Residents of the rural community, especially those living in the Ose and Owo council districts, have complained about what they see as constant security breaches in the axis as a result of the development, which is causing tension in the area.

    The Ondo State Police Command confirmed the event and revealed that security personnel are pursuing the culprits in an effort to save the victim.

    According to Olayinka Ayanlade, the state’s police public relations officer police, every attempt is being made to find the kidnappers and put them to justice.

    He said, “I can confirm to you that the chairman of APC ward 5 was kidnapped at the entrance of his farm along Ifon-Owo Road.

    “At the receipt of the report, the DPO Ifon, in collaboration with hunters, local Vigilante Group members, and Nigeria Army personnel, has launched a manhunt for the suspects.”
