BREAKING: Emefiele to Forfeit Another N11.1bn in Properties to Nigerian Government.

The Federal High Court in Lagos has granted the government an interim forfeiture order for properties valued at N11.1 billion linked to former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele.

Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke issued the order following a motion by EFCC counsel Rotimi Oyedepo, alleging Emefiele purchased the properties with fraudulent proceeds.

Three CBN staff members are implicated as accomplices. The EFCC must publish the order to allow interested parties to contest it before a final forfeiture hearing on June 21.

This comes shortly after another court ordered the forfeiture of funds and properties linked to Emefiele and his associates.

Further proceedings are set for July 2, 2024.
