The Rivers House of Assembly has decided to investigate the state’s finances during the six-month tenure of Ibok-Ete Ibas as the sole administrator.
Additionally, they have urged Governor Siminalayi Fubara to submit the list of commissioners’ nominees for screening.
According to recent reports, lawmakers resumed their session on Thursday morning following the lifting of the state’s emergency rule.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu had on Wednesday suspended the emergency rule with all democratic structures in the state restored.
Speaker of the House, Martins Amaewhule, presided over the plenary at the conference hall nestled within the legislative quarters.
The Assembly is still under construction following its demolition months ago by the state government.

On March 18, Tinubu declared emergency rule in the state following a protracted political crisis arising from the rift between Fubara and Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
Subsequently, Fubara, Ngozi Nma Odu, his deputy, and the legislators were suspended for a period of six months by the president.
Tinubu appointed Ibas as sole administrator of the state for the period.
