INEC Declares: PVC Alone Won’t Guarantee Voting Rights
Ahead of the future elections in Nigeria, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has approved the recommended use of computer-generated voting slips by those who do not have the PVC.
Mahood Yakubu, speaking during the quarterly consultative meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners RECs, Mahood said PVCs should no longer be sole requirement for voting, especially with the introduction of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS.
He said others are election officials and personnel, partnership, monitoring, collaboration and supervision, election technology, voting and result management, security, election electoral offences and electoral legal framework. He said out of the 142 recommendations, 86 require administrative action by the commission.
” This is followed by 48 recommendation that require actions by a variety of stakeholders, including securities agencies, mobile newt work providers etc.
