Insecurity: Let citizens defend themselves – Apostle Suleman to FG
Apostle Johnson Suleman, a well-known clergyman, has urged the Federal Government to acknowledge the shortcomings of its security apparatus and respect Nigerians’ right to self-defence.

Suleman wrote on his verified X account on Sunday that he was extremely frustrated by the ongoing murders in Benue State and heightened security issues in other regions of the nation.

“If the federal government knows it’s overwhelmed or its security architecture has failed, they should be humble enough to tell the citizens,” he wrote.

He emphasised to Nigerians that the right to self-defense is guaranteed by the constitution, particularly in situations where the state is unable to defend people and property.

“Self-defense is enshrined in the constitution. I said it when I went to Jos and Benue. We can’t watch this to continue.”

Speaking directly to the people of Benue, Apostle Suleman asked them to act rather than passively.

Additionally, he criticized political leaders for planning for the 2027 elections while 2025 residents are being murdered and insecurity continues to worsen.

“It’s ridiculous that people are thinking of 2027 whilst mayhem is being unleashed in 2025 on citizens they are supposed to govern. What happened to your humanity?”
