Construction giant, Julius Berger has allegedly stopped all operations in Rivers State and has pulled out of majority of its project sites in the state.
According to reports, this development is following the Rivers State sole administrator, Vice Admiral Ibas’ failure to sustain the projects despite receiving the necessary allocations. Sources also revealed that workers of the company across several sites and locations in Rivers state have been asked to standby.
An X user identified as John Martins to account to disclose this. He wrote, “Its unfortunate that Julius Berger has pulled out of most project sites in Rivers state due to the Sole Administrator’s failure to continue the projects, despite allocations and substantial IGR,
“Consequently, most of their workers have been kept on standby, with operations stalled across several locations”.

This is coming only a week after the senate house set up an eighteen man committee responsible for overseeing and monitoring the activities of the sole administrator.
The senate president, Akpabio announced this development adding that the committee was created in a bid to strengthen transparency and accountability in the state’s governance.
He also emphasised the significance of the committee’s mandate, saying that it is essential to Rivers State’s efficient legislative supervision.
