Phase 1 of Lagos-Calabar coastal highway to be commissioned today
Phase I, Section I (30 km of 750 km) of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway will be commissioned into service today, Saturday May 31, according to information released by Works Minister Engr. Dave Umahi.
According to the Minister’s Special Adviser on Media, Uchenna Orji, the commissioning ceremony will take place at KM 8 of the project (Jakande Estate Area in Lagos State on Saturday, May 31st 2025.

The Minister further said that President Tinubu is anticipated to virtually commission other Southern Nigerian Renewed Hope hallmark projects that have been finished.
Some of which will include; The Ahmadu Bello to Eleko Village Area in the Lekki Peninsula, the dualisation of East-West Road Section II (Sub Section I) Eleme Junction in Port Harcourt – Ahoada in Rivers State, the Lagos-Ibadan dual carriageway’s rehabilitation, reconstruction, and expansion works, the rehabilitated Alesi – Ugep (Iyamoyung-Ugep) Section in Cross River State, the rebuilt Collapsed Enugu Bridge at New Artisan Market Enugu – Port Harcourt -Roada in Enugu State, as disclosed by the minister.

According to reports, The Lagos-Calabar coastal highway which was President Tinubu’s initiative was launched 27 years ago with the long-term goal of enhancing accessibility and growing the transportation ecosystem along the coasts of nine Nigerian states.
