The Lagos Government has demolished a cluster of illegal shanties and a makeshift car wash in the Lekki area as part of its continued environmental enforcement efforts.

Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the Lagos Government action in a statement shared via his official X handle on Tuesday.
Wahab stated that the enforcement team removed the unauthorized structures located at Lafiaji Beach and along Platinum Way in the Igbokusu area of Lekki.
“These shanties not only degrade the environment but also promote indiscriminate waste disposal and other unhygienic practices along our coastal corridors,” he explained.
The commissioner emphasised that Lagos government would not tolerate activities that compromise environmental sustainability and public health.
“As a government, we cannot allow these practices to persist unchecked. We remain committed to restoring order, safeguarding our waterfronts, and ensuring that public spaces are managed responsibly in line with environmental regulations,” Wahab said.
