Nigerian politicians inspire Trump’s latest strategy
The former President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has adopted one of the most beloved campaign strategy of Nigerian politicians. It’s easy to see why Donald Trump adopted that strategy; one only has to consider Governor Babajide SanwoOlu of Lagos State.
Trump was seen at a fast food restaurant leaning to make McDonald’s fries during a stop in Feasterville-Trevose, Pennsylvania. Trump went all in by joining the McDonald’s employees behind the counter. There’s no doubt that his fries were as delicious as his reputation.
This strategy requires multitasking and Trump didn’t shy from the challenge. Standing by the fryer, he asked the employees about their work and how they felt about it. In the same vein, he made small talk with the staff on their work environment and management ethics.
And just like Governor SanwoOlu that couldn’t get enough of the people, Trump hinted at his plan to attend a Pittsburgh Steelers game later that day. He asked his new buddies for tips on how to perfect his frying skills.
It seemed like the perfect opportunity to throw a shade at Vice President Kamala Harris and Trump didn’t miss it. “I’ve now worked 15 minutes more at the restaurant than the VP”, he said. This is a reference to Harris’ claim of working at McDonald’s. A claim Trump has always called a lie. He even nicknamed the Vice President “Lyin’ Kamala.”
Although the atmosphere was relaxed, the security was tight. Members of the secret service stood on business as usual, protecting the former President amongst the crowd of supporters.
Other effective “Made in Nigeria” campaign strategies
Kudos to Nigerian politicians for their creative campaign strategies: sharing food items, distributing cash souvenirs, engaging neighborhood big brothers, and briefly interning with artisans.
