“Not Electing Osinbajo Equals Awolowo’s Loss Again – Ojudu”
Former adviser on political matters to ex-president Muhammadu Buhari, senator Babafemi Ojudu has said that Professor Yemi Osinbajo was not elected during the most recent presidential election in Nigeria – it’s equivalent to haplessly missing Awolowo’s second coming.
He made this statement while arguing his belief on supporting former Vice president, Osinbajo over the 2023 elections for Nigeria.
Nigerians were told that the former Vice President, Osinbajo, contested the presidential ticket under the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2022.
However, all did not go well with him as he lost the primary election to president Bola Tinubu.
Speaking in an Interview with Edmund Obilo on the ‘State Affairs’ program, Ojudu said that not voting Osinbajo during the 2023 election is like losing Awolowo for a second time.
“I supported Osinbajo to be president. I was convinced because having seen him up close.
“The way he worked, his philosophy, his breadth of knowledge and the kind of patriotic verve in him I just think that he was the best person at that time to govern Nigeria that I have seen up close to be on the part of danger.
“Osinbajo would have been good for this country. For me, it is like losing Awolowo for a second time because he was at Awolowo’s level in terms of capacity, ability, dedication and commitment,” he said.
