Governors elected under the PDP governors forum on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, have called an emergency meeting in Abuja on Sunday to discuss the future in light of the recent wave of defections in the main opposition party.
According to reports, the PDP has had a difficult two weeks as members have continued to leave for the ruling All Progressives Congress, or APC.

The latest wave started on April 23 when Sheriff Oborevwori, the governor of Delta State, led Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor, and the entire PDP apparatus in the state to defect to the ruling party.
Their defection occurred just one week after the governors met in the capital of Oyo State, Ibadan, and stated that they would be open to any coalition discussions before the general elections in 2027.
Recall that the party’s former presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, led a coalition that the governors forum distanced themselves from.
Similarly, all three of the Kebbi State senators who were elected on the PDP platform are en route to the APC.
According to sources, the emergency meeting is set to take place at the Bauchi State Governors’ Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja.
