PDP is yet to sell any nomination form, which made them reconsider extending the deadline for Anambra 2027 forms.
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba has confirmed that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) has decided to extend the deadline for the sale of nomination forms.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is considering an extension for the sale of its Expression of Interest (EOI) and nomination forms for the upcoming Anambra State governorship primary.
This decision follows concerns about the party’s participation in the November 8 election.
Initially, the forms were available for purchase between February 26 and March 5, with the expression of interest set at N5 million and the nomination form at N35 million. However, sources said that due to low interest from aspirants, the party is considering extending the deadline to March 12.
In December, the court of Appeal, Enugu division ruled that Ude-Okoye was the rightful nominee for the position. However, Anyanwu has since appealed the decision at Supreme Court.
“We want to give more room for people to participate. That is the essence of democracy,” Ologunagba stated. “It is not correct that people have not collected forms. If that is part of your story, then it will be fake news.”
He clarified that the deadline extension was a standard procedure and not linked to the Supreme Court case regarding the national secretary position. The party is expected to issue an official statement on the new deadline soon.
