Peter Obi reveals reason for absence at Buhari’s burial on July 14

The Labour Party’s (LP) 2023 general election presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has given an explanation for his absence from Tuesday’s funeral for former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Recall that Peter Obi was visibly missing in attendance following the inflow of political figures at the funeral.

Following this, the former Anambra state governor of Anambra faced heavy backlash from critics including Reno Omokri and Sarki  for missing the function.

He has clarified, though, that the primary reason why he missed the funeral was because he was unable to get a flight to Katsina.

Peter Obi however stated that he was only able to make it to Daura on Wednesday, where he commiserated with the family of the late former President.

“It was difficult to come yesterday (Tuesday) because there was no flight,” Obi told Arise TV.

“Even if there was a flight, you couldn’t land in Katsina Airport. It was all closed, because there was a lot of dignitaries.

“Mourning continues until tomorrow. So, whoever comes today and tomorrow, is still part of the mourning.”
