The camps of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and other political figures have decided to accept the African Democratic Congress as the main coalition party to run against President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election, according to an exclusive report published by The PUNCH on Monday.
This decision was reached during a Tuesday night meeting, according to multiple sources close to the 2023 PDP presidential candidate Atiku and the ongoing coalition efforts. These sources spoke on condition of anonymity because they lacked authorisation.
At an event on Wednesday, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai confirmed the meeting, saying coalition leaders met Tuesday at 8 p.m. to make important decisions that would guarantee President Bola Tinubu’s removal and return to Lagos in 2027.
